Manila Central Post Office Building

Located in Liwasang Bonifacio (Plaza Lawton) in Manila, at the bank of Pasig River, the Manila Central Post office building, built in 1926, is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the Philippines.

My father is a retired employee of the Philippine Postal Corporation. Nakapunta naman ako sa maraming post offices sa Metro Manila kung saan na-assigned ang tatay ko bilang postmaster, but only last October I had a chance to visit this building, the head office of PhilPost. I like this building, parang nasa ibang bansa ka when you are standing in front of this building, maiisip mo na sana lahat ng magagandang structures sa Manila ay na-preserve tulad nito.

The reason why I went here was not to send a mail or just to see the building itself, but to check the Postal Museum.  The Postal Museum and Philatelic Library is located on the 3rd floor of the security building of the Post Office.  The museum only exhibits stamps, I think hundreds of them, but not as comprehensive as I expected. In addition, old typewriters, old mailboxes, and old telephones are also on display.

Sana may magawa ang Philpost regarding sa museum nila. I hope they can exhibit detailed history of postal service in our country, more exhibits of stamps, mas mga sinaunang stamps pa, and of course sana magandang museum... sana they can match the Money Museum of Bangko Sentral.  Attention Philpost, sana you can have a museum like the Money Museum in the future, sayang ang ganda ng building.
